The Organic Difference

WHAT MAKES OUR YOGURTS DIFFERENT?

That’s a question that people new to our products often ask.

Here are a few answers.

Firstly they are made with carefully selected organic ingredients... No artificial additives, colours, flavourings, GM ingredients, sweeteners, or anything else that’s not entirely natural.

Being organic means we use the milk from around 100 organic dairy farms in the South West (this cuts down food miles) and fruit from a small number of specially selected farms and plantations.

Inspecting Organic FruitWe know the farmers producing our milk and fruit and they know us and how the food they are supplying is being used. This adds up to full traceability and we can even pinpoint the fields in which ingredients are grown.

It also means that the cows on the farms supplying us must have more room to roam and they are fed on a diet of natural, clover-rich grass - grass that is grown without the routine use of artificial fertilizers and pesticides, on farms where animal welfare is of prime importance and wildlife like insects butterflies and birds are encouraged to flourish.Cows grazing by the lake

Similar rules apply on the farms growing our fruit – without the routine use of sprays like pesticides and fertilizers. All of this means that the output from these farms is less intensive than normal, so these ingredients cost more to produce, but we think it’s worth it.

We believe that we can taste the difference and that our customers can as well.

Finally, we believe good products can’t be rushed, so we produce our yogurts in small batches, using a combination of traditional skill and modern quality control technology. The way we work is like a scaled up version of home made, gently mixing the fruit into our yogurt, which has been left to thicken naturally, without the use of the emulsifiers and gels that can be adopted as alternatives in non-organic recipes. This means that when we pack them they are naturally creamy, with a clean, fresh taste and lots of fruity fresh flavour. They are also pro-biotic, which more and more doctors and scientists believe is helpful to a healthy body.
