our values

working hard for the environment

We have a dedicated team of environmental staff on our farm. These countryside specialists re-build dry stonewalls, re-lay hedges and plant thousands of trees and shrubs, creating fantastic habitats for wildlife which flourish in our specially allocated ‘set-aside’ land.

We grow crops of Miscanthus (Elephant Grass), which is a carbon neutral fuel, for our office heating as well as running our dairies on green energy (derived from 100% renewable sources) both of which support our ongoing commitment to reduce our carbon footprint.

Another way we helped reduce our carbon footprint was in the investment of a special fleet of double-decker trailers for the lorries that collect the yogurt from our dairies. This has reduced the number of lorry journeys by almost half!

Our concern for the environment extends to our packaging where we try to ensure it is not only recyclable but is also made from recycled materials. Our new four-pots range is the first multi-pack to be made from 80% recycled plastic and is fully recyclable. This commitment to sustainability extends to our milk bottles, our outer trays and we are working towards extending this to our big pot range.

great quality and affordable

We have a strongly held, simple belief that great tasting, organic food should be accessible to everyone.
Organic still continues to be perceived as expensive. However we make every effort to price our organic products competitively with conventional dairy brands.

Better-fed, happier cows make better quality milk, yogurt and ice cream, it’s that simple. We think we can taste the difference and that you will as well.

Such is the strength of our commitment to sustainable development, we have been given three Queen’s Awards in this field.

To us, keeping things in balance just makes sense. It’s about doing what’s right today, but always with one eye on tomorrow.

a real place in the west country

Mary has many fond memories of these tough but exciting times: “There were many trials and tastings, sitting around the kitchen table. Roger always insisted that our yogurts had to have the yummy factor, and we have tried to continue this through the business today”.

We moved into organic yogurt production in 1993 as we were approached by a number of like-minded local farmers who were producing organic milk but were struggling to find a consistent demand for it.

Our first product, organic natural yogurt was an instant success and we now make a wide range of organic dairy products including milk, butter and even ice cream.

a great place to live and work

We are lucky to work in this quiet, calm and tranquil place, known as Yeo Valley, with its stunning views of the Mendip Hills and great British Somerset countryside from our office windows.

We have a fantastic dedicated team working for us and we are pleased to say that there are still a number of generations of the original families who started working with us back in the early days.

People seem to love working here, with the average length of service amongst our board of directors of at least 15 years. We are one of the largest local employers and are delighted to have over 1,400 employees working with us.

Extremely important to us is our staff welfare. We grow some of our own organic fruit & vegetables, which we serve alongside our organically reared beef, lamb and eggs in our staff canteens and cafes throughout our sites.
