About Us

If you look around the shelves of most food shops you’ll find lots of ‘manufactured’ company names. Brands that have been conjured up to give a product a better sounding background or suggest it has a traditional heritage.

Here at Yeo Valley Organic we are fortunate that we don’t have to do that. The Yeo Valley is a real place, (pronounced yo, not yee-o which is a common misunderstanding made by anyone not familiar with the area). It’s situated right in the heart of Somerset and the view you see above is the one we have out of our office window. The actual farm where we started making yogurt is down by the lake, on the right.

We have always thought that just like our yogurts, our company should be as natural and authentic as possible, so it might not be the easiest name to say, but it does help tell you where we come from, and we hope the picture helps explain why we are so passionate about the environment in which we live and work.

Our farms have helped create our yogurts and now our yogurts help to maintain our farms. They help sustain a team which maintains and rebuilds thousands of metres of historic drystone walls, ‘lay’ hedges in the traditional way, which makes them a haven for wildlife and maintain and plant new woodland areas with slow-growing, indigenous broad leafed trees, which attract a wide variety of bird life.
