supporting British
family farming
The future of British farming is at risk and unless we all do something about it, there’ll be nothing left. Every week, more family dairy farms go to the wall. This simply isn’t acceptable to us because we plan to be here forever. We’re already supporting over a hundred farms by buying their milk for the delicious things we make.
As a career choice, dairy farming isn’t everyone’s cup of tea of course, but we’re steadily educating schoolchildren and college students about the rewards of good, honest farming as a way of life through the courses we run.
Roger and Mary Mead set up the farm 50 years ago, and it’s still going (and growing) – so we must be doing something right! Could we really farm here forever? Well that’s the plan. Rotating our fields using a balanced cycle of growing then grazing clover, fertilising naturally and growing feed crops means the soil always has time to recharge. This approach doesn’t just mean that the land will be around forever, it also produces the best quality forage from which our cows give us the best tasting milk.
We truly believe that organic farming is the only sustainable way forward. It’s all just down to good common sense.
